How a flip kit works

On most pickups the leaf springs sit under the axle. A flip kit moves the axle to the other side, so it sits under the springs instead, and relocates the axle mounts to match. The result is about 5-6" of rear drop while keeping your factory leaf springs.

What else you'll need

  • C-notch: almost every flip kit needs a C-notch so the axle clears the frame.
  • Drop shocks: required. Use the Shock Finder for your exact rear drop.
  • Bump stops: low-profile bump stops keep travel.
  • Pinion angle: big drops can change driveline angles; pinion shims fix vibrations.

Pair with drop shackles or hangers to fine-tune between 5, 6 and 7".

How much does a flip kit lower a truck?

Usually 5-6" on its own, and 7-8" when combined with drop shackles or hangers.

Do I need a C-notch with a flip kit?

Almost always. Without one, the axle can hit the frame over bumps.

Can I tow with a flip kit?

Light loads only. A flipped axle has very little travel left, so heavy towing or hauling isn't recommended.
