Lowering a torsion-bar truck

On torsion-bar trucks, the front ride height is set by the key at the back of the torsion bar. Drop keys have a different index, so you can turn the adjuster down past the stock limit and lower the front 1-3" with adjustable height.

Lowering Torsion Keys and Drop Keys FAQ

How do I know if my truck has torsion bars?

Look under the front for long bars running from the lower control arms back to a crossmember. Many 2WD and 4WD GM trucks from 1988-2006, and many 4WD Ford and Dodge trucks, use them.

Are lowering torsion keys adjustable?

Yes. You set the height with the adjuster bolt, usually anywhere in a 1-3" range.

Do torsion keys ride rough?

They reduce downward travel, so pair them with drop shocks and don't max them out for the best ride.
