Choosing a lowering kit

A complete kit gives you front and rear parts designed to work together, so you don't have to guess which spindle goes with which flip kit. Start with the drop you want, then check what's included.

Things to compare

  • Drop: 2/3 or 2/4 keeps things mild and daily-friendly. 3/5, 4/6 and 5/7 give a slammed look but need a C-notch in the rear.
  • Shocks: kits "with shocks" include drop shocks sized for the kit. Kits "without shocks" let you choose your own; check the Shock Finder.
  • Front method: spindle kits keep the factory ride; coil kits are simpler and cheaper but ride a little firmer.
  • Wheel size: drop spindles often need a minimum wheel size (commonly 17"). Check the kit notes.

Which lowering kit is best for a daily driver?

A 2/3 or 2/4 kit with drop spindles and matching shocks. It keeps the factory ride height feel, doesn't need a C-notch, and works with stock-size tires.

Do I need a C-notch with my lowering kit?

Usually for rear drops of about 5" or more. The kit listing will say if a C-notch is required or included.

How long does a lowering kit take to install?

Most 2/4 kits take a shop 3-5 hours. Flip kits with a C-notch take longer. Every kit needs an alignment afterward.

Are shocks included?

Only on kits that say "with shocks". Otherwise, pick drop shocks for your truck and drop in the Shock Finder.
