Lifting the rear with blocks

Lift blocks sit between the axle and leaf spring to raise the rear. They're the most common way to match a front lift or leveling kit. Kits usually include new, longer U-bolts.

  • Tapered blocks correct pinion angle to prevent driveline vibration.
  • Keep blocks at a reasonable height; bigger lifts should add rear lift springs or add-a-leafs.
  • Always use new U-bolts and re-torque after the first 100 miles.

Can I reuse my U-bolts with lift blocks?

No. Blocks need longer U-bolts, and U-bolts shouldn't be reused after they've been torqued.

How tall can a lift block be?

Most kits stay at 5" or less. Taller lifts should add spring height to avoid axle wrap.
