Leveling kit, spacer lift or suspension lift?

  • Leveling kits (1-3"): raise the front to match the rear so the truck sits level. The cheapest way to fit slightly bigger tires.
  • Spacer or body lifts (2-4"): add height with spacers and blocks while keeping factory suspension parts.
  • Suspension lifts (4-8"+): complete lift kits with new knuckles, crossmembers or control arms for big tires and real travel.

Parts that go with a lift

Every lifted truck needs an alignment, and lifts over about 2" usually need speedometer recalibration for bigger tires.

Lifted Suspension FAQ

What size tire can I fit with a leveling kit?

Most half-ton trucks fit about one size up (often 33") with a 2" leveling kit, depending on wheel offset. Each kit lists the maximum recommended tire.

Does a lift kit affect my warranty?

A lift doesn't automatically void your vehicle warranty, but the manufacturer can deny claims for parts the lift affects. Ask your dealer if you're concerned.

Do I need new shocks with a lift?

Leveling kits often work with factory shocks. Lifts of 3" and more need longer lift shocks, which most complete kits include or offer as an option.

Will a lift hurt my gas mileage?

Bigger tires and a taller stance add weight and wind drag, so expect a small drop in MPG, mostly from the tires.
